Senior Backend Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 4+ YOE (ideally 4 - 8 YOE) to join our founding engineering team. We need a relentless builder who has scaled products through hyper-growth at successful startups and is excited to own core systems, shape the technical roadmap, and push the boundaries of what's possible with agentic AI in the insurance industry. This is a critical hire as we close our Series A and scale to meet demand from the largest brokers in the country.
Responsibilities

Own and scale our core extraction engine and backend systems, maintaining quality and performance as we grow

Build and maintain integrations with customer platforms and legacy insurance systems

Develop cutting-edge agentic features, including browser-use agents that automate insurance portal workflows end-to-end

Partner directly with the CTO to shape the product roadmap and contribute to long-term technical vision

Join customer check-ins to understand pain points, inform product priorities, and help design solutions that directly address their needs

Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical standards, setting the pace for code quality across the team

Work in a fast-paced, high-output environment with direct ownership of features from design through production

Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in backend software engineering, primarily in Python.
- Experience building from 0→1 — founding or early engineer who has shipped from scratch.
- Experience scaling from 1→10 — optimizing, improving, and growing what already exists.
- Experience at a startup that achieved material success (acquisition, Series B+ with strong growth, or clear product market fit).
- Experience in a customer-facing role or demonstrating strong product sense.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python.
- Experience building with LLMs or generative AI in production.
- Experience with agentic systems or browser automation.

Comp: $200K–$300K base + 0.35–0.8% equity. Relocation support available. In-person SF 5 days/week.
