About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on AI & Backend Solutions Architect to take full ownership of end-to-end system design and implementation for a US-based healthcare company. This role combines architectural leadership with active development, covering backend services, cloud infrastructure, and advanced AI/ML components.
You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems, develop AI-powered solutions (including multi-agent RAG architectures), and ensure high standards of reliability, security, and performance in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities

Own end-to-end system architecture and implementation across backend, cloud, and AI components

Design, build, and maintain Python backend services using FastAPI

Implement asynchronous processing, background jobs, and real-time communication (e.g. WebSockets, streaming)

Design and implement multi-agent RAG systems using LangChain and LangGraph
-
Integrate LLMs, vector databases, and external APIs into production-ready systems

Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions

Design and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), including deployment, monitoring, and scalability

Ensure system reliability, performance, and observability (logging, tracing, metrics)

Apply security and data protection best practices, especially relevant to healthcare systems

Review code and architecture decisions, setting technical standards and best practices
Requirements

Strong experience in Python backend development

Hands-on expertise with FastAPI and modern async Python

Solid understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, and API design

Experience designing and implementing RAG systems and AI workflows

Practical knowledge of LangChain and LangGraph (or similar orchestration frameworks)

Experience with LLMs, embeddings, and vector databases

Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including deployment and infrastructure design

Familiarity with real-time systems and asynchronous processing

Ability to work independently and take full ownership of solutions

Strong communication skills and comfort working with a US-based team
Nice to Have

Experience in the healthcare domain (HIPAA, data privacy, regulated environments)

Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines

Background in AI/ML beyond LLMs

Previous experience in an architect or tech lead role
