Product Engineer @ Concourse
Why join us
- 9-month-old, fast-growing startup building cutting-edge AI software for state and local governments
- Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners; led by a repeat founder with a successful exit
- Small, tight-knit team of 6 in NYC with strong revenue traction
- Ground-floor opportunity to improve how government works in practice
About the role
We’re looking for an Engineer who can
1) Build user-friendly, reliable software for government officials — working closely with partners to replace legacy mainframe and pen-and-paper systems.
2) Own internal tooling — design and maintain internal systems that orchestrate long, back-to-back AI pipelines and agents across tasks and users.
You’ll collaborate directly with the founder and early team to build both the internal engine powering AI workflows and the customer-facing demos and deliveries that help governments understand what’s possible.
Responsibilities
- Build and deliver full-stack features and internal tools end-to-end (API, data model, UI, deployment)
- Work with government stakeholders to define needs and ship reliable software
- Design systems for queues, retries, monitoring, and scalability of AI pipelines
- Rapidly prototype, demo, and iterate based on feedback
- Participate in client-facing demos when needed
Requirements
- Undergrad in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- Proficient across the stack: Python and/or Node; React/Next.js; TailwindCSS (or similar)
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Factory, Codex, Gemini-CLI)
- 0+ years of full-stack engineering experience building and owning projects end-to-end
- US work authorization; US citizen
- Willingness to work in-person in Flatiron, NYC (5 days/week)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience at an early-stage startup as a founder, founding engineer, or early engineer
- Familiarity with long-running workflows, background workers, queues, and agentic AI orchestration
- Comfort talking to customers and participating in live demos
What this role is not
- Not a pure front-end role; you should be comfortable owning full-stack demos and internal tools
- Not a big-company engineering job with long roadmaps and narrow scopes; expect frequent context-switching across products, domains, and codebases
