Retention Marketing Manager, Churn Strategy
About this role
We are seeking a Retention Marketing Manager, Churn Strategy to play a pivotal role in reducing subscriber attrition and increasing Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) through a
mix of strategy, experimentation, and cross-functional execution. This role owns the churn reduction roadmap – developing proactive and reactive retention initiatives, optimizing the post-purchase journey, and embedding churn-mitigation strategies across the customer lifecycle. You'll lead the charge in understanding why customers churn and creating scalable programs to keep them engaged, loyal, and coming back. This is a brand new role at company, offering an exciting opportunity to build out the retention function from the ground up, working closely with the Head of Retention. The ideal candidate will be excited to dive into customer data, devise new strategies, and test and learn what works best to retain customers in a fast-growing wellness brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead retention & churn initiatives (win-back, cancellation flow optimization, cross-sell).
- Execute campaigns across email, SMS, direct mail.
- Own retention reporting & cohort analysis (not a heavy analytics role – separate hire planned).
- Surface customer insights (product gaps, churn drivers).
- Test and iterate on offers, campaigns, lifecycle strategies.
👤 Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: ~3–5 years in retention, churn, or lifecycle marketing (flexible if strong domain knowledge).
- Industry fit: Strong preference for wellness, beauty, subscription, or DTC brands (examples: Nutrafol, Magic Spoon, Lemme, Sephora, Peloton).
- Skills:
- Strategic retention mindset (not just CRM execution).
- Hands-on with churn management, lifecycle campaigns, win-backs, cancellation flows.
- Comfortable in early-stage, testing-heavy environment.

- Assess existing retention campaigns & historical offers.
- Develop win-back campaign briefs (email, SMS, direct mail).
- Propose/test retention & cross-sell offers.
- Get fluent with ProsperStack (cancellation flow tool).
- Generate insights from churn data to inform strategy.
